Rajasthani Silver, Turquoise and Lapis Necklace

    115.00
A two-sided pendant made from an old piece of silver handmade in Rajasthan, India, is highlighted by little bits of turquoise and lapis on each side. This is a rare and unusual example of the silverwork skills in the northern region of Rajasthan. While precious metals have always been an integral part of Indian jewelry, silver has special significance in the desert lands of Rajasthan. According to Hindu Ayurvedic herbal medicine, silver is cool and therefore good to wear in hot climates.

The chain necklace is 17.5 inches and closes with a large silver hook and ring. The pendant is about an inch across and the drop from the ring to the bottom of the pendant is 4 inches.
