    Netherlands Coin Necklace

    125.00
A large bezel-set coin from the Netherlands (dated 1970) hangs from chunky gold plated chain. It closes in the front with a large silver hook. This necklace has both substance and style. The mixed metals adds to the wearability of the piece.

Precious coins have been used as jewelry since ancient times. In ancient times jewelry from precious coins served both as a talisman and as a monetary unit. They were used during long travels, because it was much safer to keep coins this way, especially during a sea voyage or a military expedition. Due to its practicality and convenience, coin jewelry was common among the nobility, the military, and sailors.

This necklace is 18 inches to the first ring. The coin is 1.5 inches across and the coin with rings drop 3 inches from the necklace.
