This medal from 1949 depicts an athlete triumphantly holding a flag on a pole in one hand and a discus in the other. He is surrounded by a balance beam and a pommel horse. The back is marked L'esperance XL Concours 16-1-1949. What a beautiful little work of art it is!

The medal hangs from a hand-knotted necklace of silver beads and black lava beads. It is 18.5 inches long and the pendant is 1.5 inches long, top to bottom. '
