A Collection of Ancient Beads Necklace

      $290.00
This strand is made up of very old beads from around the globe. The blue-green beads are Hebron beads and are quite valuable and prized by bead collectors. Originally made using salts from the Dead Sea, Hebron beads date back to earlier than the mid-19th century. These beads are a favorite amongst antique bead collectors who cherish them for their rich history.

The center front bead is greenstone from Central or South America and dates back to pre-Columbian times. These beads are sometimes depicted on Mayan ceramics and were famously worn by Frida Kahlo. The hole in the bead is drilled by hand, spinning a conical shape on each side resulting in a large hole that narrows and meets in the center with the cone shaped hole carved on the opposite side.

Joined by other older beads, this necklace is strung on silver chain providing strength and allowing the beads to move. The necklace is 18-1/2 inches long.
